Animal Rehabilitation is the use of various therapies to help animals recover from illness and/or injury, restore function and mobility and to help them live their best life with minimal pain and discomfort. Benefits can include pain reduction, conditioning, increased fitness, weight loss, improved psychological state and quality of life.
Our goal is to use rehabilitation as a functional treatment for your pet’s needs with the aim of increasing the quality of life for you and your pet.
Grace Woodrell, DMV, CCAT, leads our rehabilitation services and has over 15 years of experience in veterinary medicine. A long-standing interest in pain relief and quality of life led to to become a Certified Companion Animal Therapist (CCAT) through North Carolina State College. Dr. Woodrell uses her years of experience to treat the whole pet and offers tailored solutions for your pets’ needs.
Once you've received a referral from your veterinarian, you will meet with Dr. Woodrell for an assessment of your pet. She will then work with you to develop a plan of action to best meet your pet's needs.

“Milkyway Galaxy has struggled with early onset arthritis since age three. We tried all of the supplements, food additives, and medications, but he only made limited progress. Our family sadly watched him lose more and more function over the years. Then Dr. Woodrell and Michelle began him on a course of physical therapy using the aqua treadmill and other non-water based exercises specifically designed by his team. Now at age 8, he’s able to go on walks, runs and plays in the yard, and jumps into bed with his favorite person, our daughter, for nightly cuddles. His quality of life has improved far beyond what we have ever hoped. We cannot say enough good things about Farmington Animal Hospital and their physical therapy offerings. They truly gave us back our puppy!"
“My 8-year-old Puggle, Chandler, suffered a torn CCL in his rear right leg. Due to his weight, he was not a candidate for surgery. For a while, he mostly lay on his bed immobile and stopped wanting to go on the walks we always took. We were also treating his pain with medication. We decided to start him on physical therapy to help him regain his strength and flexibility. The physical therapy team at Farmington Animal Hospital is very knowledgeable and proactive in working with Chandler, and the change has been remarkable. He is now very active, eager to walk and play with his toys. Chandler no longer needs medication and he has more energy. His quality of life has improved greatly. I recommend Farmington Animal Hospital’s physical therapy to anyone who has a pet in a similar situation.”
